This spring/summer was the worst flood that the boys and I have experienced. We got 7 1/2 total of water in our basement. Despite ALL of the damage to our house, the pain in the butt with having to move out, and having to boat/tractor in and out, we managed to still stay strong and help keep each others spirits up. The boys and I went and stayed with my parents for a few weeks. They got to experience living in a subdivision and enjoyed roller blading and biking around the neighborhood. They did have fun coming back to the house when water was starting to go down and adventure around. They were super excited that Eric found salamanders, which is kind of rare around here. Especially the hellbender. Luckily we had zero snakes. We were super fortunate about that. Our neighbors even boated over a few nights and we had a fire on our driveway. Because of the recent flooding and the way our house was designed, when we remodeled, we moved our staircase and redid our living room. Hopefully it will never flood again, but if it does, our house will be better suited for it.
